The best alternatives to Google Analytics

When it comes to tracking website performance, Google Analytics has long been the benchmark. But it is not the only option available.

For companies looking for other approaches, there is now a wealth of powerful tools. These alternatives can provide valuable information about your site’s performance and visitors.

We are going to look at the best alternatives to Google Analytics for your business. That way you can make an informed decision about which one best meets your needs.

I will present the features, advantages and drawbacks of each tool. You will have all the information you need to make the best choice.

By the end of this article, you will know the best alternatives to Google Analytics. You will know exactly which one suits your business best.

Why look for an alternative to Google Analytics?

There are many excellent reasons to look for alternatives to Google Analytics.

Let us look at some of the drawbacks of GA that make it a second-tier option for some webmasters.

Whether you are having problems with the tool or are simply looking for another approach, an alternative may be exactly what you need.

At Smart Impact, we have studied the analytics solutions available on the market. Here is our list of the best alternatives to Google Analytics.

Hubspot: an all-in-one marketing solution

[Hubspot](https://www.hubspot.com/products/marketing/analytics?hubs_content=blog.hubspot.com%2Fwebsite%2Fbest-google-analytics-alternatives&hubs_content-cta=HubSpot%20Marketing%20Analytics&hubs_post=blog.hubspot.com%2Fwebsite%2Fbest-google-analytics-alternatives&hubs_post-cta=HubSpot%20Marketing%20Analytics&_gl=1*l9iway*_ga* MTk0OTQzMzE1Mi4xNjc2OTcwMzIy_ga_LXTM6CQ0XK MTY3Njk3MDMyMS4xLjAuMTY3Njk3MDMyMS4wLjAuMA..&_ga=2.186036843.379438152.1676970322-1949433152.1676970322) is a complete marketing tool I often use with clients. It offers a full range of features for analysing your website.

You will be able to track your leads and conversions precisely. Customise your landing pages and forms to suit your needs. Follow your content’s performance in real time to make better decisions.

Hubspot also offers very practical marketing automation options. Its customer relationship management and sales tools will help you work towards your online objectives.

The most interesting part? You will be able to design custom reports and dashboards. These tools will sharpen your own insight and that of your company.

Mixpanel: analyse user engagement in depth

Mixpanel is a powerful tool for analysing user engagement on your site. I particularly value its ability to go beyond basic metrics.

It goes further than simple traffic analysis. You get real-time data on user trends and behaviour.

Mixpanel stands apart from conventional solutions through its unique approach. It is built on the idea that user actions are more revealing than the pages they view.

You can map your visitors’ navigation by creating detailed user flows. Compare free and paying users easily to identify the friction points.

This sophisticated solution enables straightforward segmentation and effective A/B testing. Custom event tracking gives you valuable insight into user activity.

Mixpanel works on web, mobile and other smart devices. This gives you a complete view of customer behaviour.

Woopra, understanding the client journey

Woopra is an analytics suite with capabilities equivalent to Google Analytics. I was impressed by how easy it was to use during my tests.

Woopra focuses on four main data categories. People, behaviours, trends and client retention are at the heart of the tool.

The aim is to understand user activity across multiple touchpoints. This approach supports engagement and customer loyalty.

Woopra provides detailed analytics and reports on your consumers. You will better understand who they are and how they interact with your organisation.

In addition to its web application, Woopra offers a desktop version. It provides improved performance and display quality for your analyses.

Woopra integrates easily with your other systems through its one-click connectors. Salesforce, Google Ads and other platforms sync up to centralise all your data.

FoxMetrics: for advanced analytics

FoxMetrics is a powerful alternative to Google Analytics that I have had the chance to test. The platform offers impressive features for tracking your site.

It lets you collect precise browsing data. Customer data analysis becomes far more intuitive with this tool.

Track your conversions and analyse your audience trends. Measure the effectiveness of your marketing campaigns and optimise your landing pages for better results.

FoxMetrics also offers options for tracking customer engagement. Personalise user experiences and integrate other marketing tools for a complete analysis.

The tool takes online analysis to a higher level. Create bespoke data models for analyses that go further than Google Analytics. This feature is ideal for users comfortable with SQL.

Once your models are built, create visually attractive dashboards. Set up alerts to detect anomalies and keep problems in check in real time.

Leadfeeder – Identify your B2B visitors

Leadfeeder is a tool I use regularly at Smart Impact for our B2B clients. It identifies the companies visiting your site, even without contact details.

This data lets you develop more effective marketing and sales strategies. You will know which companies visit your site and which pages interest them.

Leadfeeder recently launched its Google Analytics connector. This sophisticated solution gives access to company data directly inside Google Analytics.

You will get the company name, its website, its sector and its revenue. Leadfeeder is an excellent complement for enriching your website data.

Piwik PRO Analytics Suite, privacy first

If confidentiality is your priority, Piwik PRO Analytics Suite (PPAS) is an excellent option. This solution is particularly suited to sensitive sectors.

Industries such as government, healthcare and finance will benefit. They have to handle consumer data with exceptional care.

PPAS is a powerful analytics solution that puts data protection first. I have seen how effective it is on projects with clients subject to the GDPR.

It provides as much quantitative data as Google Analytics. It also offers industry intelligence tools to go beyond simple traffic data.

You can monitor user behaviour across different platforms. Web, mobile, apps and intranet are covered, including areas behind a login.

PPAS gives you full control over your data and where it is stored. Choose between on-premise, public cloud or private cloud hosting depending on your needs.

Gauges: essential metrics in real time

Gauges is an alternative to Google Analytics I tested recently. It provides detailed information about your site's traffic in a very intuitive way.

The platform is friendly to use and offers all the essential metrics. You will find everything you would expect from a capable analytics suite.

Gauges gives you a complete view of your traffic, second by second. Interaction metrics appear without needing to refresh the page.

Its attribution modelling features are very useful. They offer insights into the customer journey, campaign performance and revenue evaluation.

Gauges lets you monitor many attributes at once. Switch easily from one site to another or from one subdomain to another. You can even analyse different points in your conversion funnel.

W3counter, visualise your traffic at a glance

To see the state of your site at a glance, W3counter is an excellent choice. It provides detailed information on a visually attractive dashboard.

This system helps you identify your most engaging pages. You will learn more about your visitors and be able to follow their navigation path precisely.

Clicky, privacy-respecting analytics

Clicky is a privacy-respecting analytics solution I have often recommended. It is frequently preferred to Google Analytics for how simple it is to install and use.

The application is known for its real-time analytics and heatmap tracking. These features let you visualise the user journey on your website.

Clicky can even track each visitor’s activity in fine detail. It is a complete quantitative analytics tool that provides most of the same indicators as Google Analytics.

Its heatmap tracking is particularly appreciated by my clients. Although its interface looks a little dated, Clicky remains one of the best alternatives to Google Analytics.

Matomo: the open source alternative par excellence

Matomo is my favourite among the alternatives to Google Analytics. It is an open source, privacy-focused solution that records traffic and user behaviour.

It is one of the most popular analytics tools, with more than 1.4 million users in 190 countries. Matomo offers features comparable to, and sometimes better than, Analytics.

You will find heatmaps, session recordings and reports on SEO keywords. A/B testing is also available for optimising your pages.

The platform complies with privacy standards such as GDPR and CCPA. Thanks to that strict compliance, you do not need to obtain your users’ consent.

Matomo is a more ethical choice than Google Analytics. It does not exploit your customers' browsing information for its own commercial purposes.
